Sam and his lovely wife Nancy live in Ft. Collins, Colorado. They have two grown children, Scott and Kelly, and three grandchildren. During his career, Sam has illustrated for national advertising agencies and magazines. In the late 1980’s Sam re-illustrated a number of Beatrix Potter books. Sam says, "I fell in love all over again. The excitement and creativity of doing children’s books are the reasons I got into illustration."

Since that time, Sam has illustrated numerous books and covers including Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, BABA YAGA and Night Noises which he not only illustrated but wrote as well. Sam’s hope is that his pictures bring extra joy and insight to the books he illustrates.
